Uses of Needles and Pins in Our Life

Needles and pins as well as safety pins are mostly used to fasten clothes or papers. A needle is a type of pin that is generally used for stitching. Sewing machines needles are bigger compared to the ones we use to sew clothes by hand.

Pins can also become accessory or jewelry and be used as earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Safety pins use a simple spring mechanism and a clasp. The clasp supports two purposes in the formation of safety pins. One is to form a loop and hence fasten the pin to whatever it is applied to. Another purpose is to cover the end of the pin to protect the user from any damage from the sharp end.

The Invention of Pin

In the 14th century Walter Hunt had to pay $15 debt to his friend and so he was thinking of how to return him his money. He twisted a piece of wire and transformed it to a shape of safety pin, which later he sold it for $400. From this money he paid the debt and with rest he was looking forward to do something new again. He claimed that it was the first pin to have a clasp and spring and hence designed to keep safe. Again in 1834, Walter Hunt invented the first sewing machine in America.

Today, needles and pins are very popular end are used in many ways. Sometimes they are even considered life safer when you accidentally tear your clothes and need to fix it right away. Needles, pins and safety pins are also highly used during fashion parades.
